The Bruins have assigned Zach Hamill and Brad Marchand to Providence. The Bruins have 22 players remaining in camp.

The assignment of Hamill indicates that David Krejci might have a good shot to be in the lineup on Thursday for the regular-season opener. Hamill was under consideration to serve as the temporary No. 2 center until Krejci was ready to go.

Marchand was in competition with Vladimir Sobotka for a spot as an energy-line forward. Marchand should be among the first players recalled from Providence in case of injury. The assignment of Marchand also indicates that Steve Begin, iffy with a groin injury, should be ready for Thursday.

The final roster appears to be set.
