Good morning from TD Garden, where the Bruins will drop the puck on 2009-10 tonight against Washington. Appropriately, there's a bite to the morning air (time to get some gloves for the bike ride) as hockey season kicks off.

Tim Thomas will start his second straight season opener. Jose Theodore is expected to start in goal for the Capitals.

* Given yesterday's assignment of Vladimir Sobotka, the projected 13th forward, David Krejci (hip) and Marco Sturm (groin) are expected to play tonight

* This is the first time the Bruins will start at home since 2005-06. They have 35-33-16-0 in season openers. They are 28-13-11-0 in season openers at home.

* Tonight's game will not be available for DirecTV viewers because of the satellite provider's dispute with Versus.

* Dave Jackson and Steve Kozari will be the referees. Brian Murphy and Tony Sericolo will be the linesmen.
