David Krejci had been diagnosed with the H1N1 virus and will not play tonight.

“Like most people, we are taking many precautions to try to prevent our players and staff from contracting the H1N1 virus,” said GM Peter Chiarelli in a statement. “Our medical staff is working with David to get him healthy as soon as possible, and our players and staff will continue to take precautions with hopes of preventing the spread of the virus to others in the organization.”

According to Claude Julien, Krejci started feeling sick after Tuesday's 2-0 loss to Detroit. The Red Wings were thick in the middle of their own outbreak, as Brian Rafalski and Jonathan Ericsson missed the game because of flu-like symptoms. The Wings had been in Edmonton the week before, where Ladislav Smid had been officially diagnosed with H1N1. Last week, the Bruins also played against the Oilers.

"David Krejci's not around the team, so you hope that's where it stops," Julien said. "But there's no guarantees. We're all vulnerable to it. We just have to deal with it the best way we can."

Krejci has one goal and four assists in 14 games. He will be out indefinitely.

* Marc Savard has shed the protective boot from his left foot. Savard is continuing off-ice workouts.

* Byron Bitz (groin) skated on his own this morning. Bitz will not play tonight, but remains day-to-day.
