Morning briefing

Posted by Fluto Shinzawa, Globe Staff November 5, 2009 09:42 AM

Good morning from TD Garden, where the Bruins will face off against the Canadiens tonight. Mikko Lehtonen will be available for the game, pending the health of the rest of the lineup. We might learn the identity of the in-question forward later this morning.

* The Bruins have been shut out in their last two games. They haven't been shut out three times in a row since Feb. 2-5, 1929, the first and only time that feat has been accomplished.

* Don't expect much from the man-advantage from either team. The Bruins (11.5 percent) have the worst power play in the NHL. Montreal (14.3 percent) has the 24th-ranked PP.

* Tonight is the 700th meeting between the two clubs.

* Paul Devorski and Francois St. Laurent will be the referees. Andy McElman and Brian Mach will be the linesmen.
