Rest day for Bruins

Posted by Fluto Shinzawa, Globe Staff November 4, 2009 10:50 AM

The Bruins have scrubbed their morning practice, opting for a rest day in advance of tomorrow's home game against Montreal.

Here's the latest version of Plus/Minus:

Plus

+ Decent scoring chances around the net. It's not like the offense has been completely throttled in the last two games. Chris Osgood had to make several sparkling stops to keep pucks from going in.

+ Better play from Blake Wheeler. Looks like the second-year forward's confidence is coming back. He's making plays with the puck and using his size and speed more effectively.

+ Good, if not great, play from Tim Thomas. Allowing three goals in two games should be enough to win.

Minus

- Power play. The man-advantage has become a permanent resident in the Minus category.

- No offensive presence from David Krejci. With Marc Savard out, Krejci has to be better to take the heat off Patrice Bergeron.

- Lack of finish. Marco Sturm has to bury those chances in last night's first period.
