With Claude Julien on the ice for a rare post-practice spin -- working with rehabbing players is usually the domain of John Whitesides and Doug Houda -- Milan Lucic went through the paces as he continues to strengthen his injured left ankle.

Lucic performed agility drills at center ice, picking his way through pucks while stopping and starting on his ankle. Lucic, joined by Julien and Houda, completed the session with a grimace-inducing bag skate.

After the practice, his first morning skate with his teammates, Lucic said he feels better every day. But Lucic said he'll be careful not to push himself just to rush back for the Winter Classic.
