Third period

Al over here at HSBC. Sabres win, 2-1.

High stick with 1.9 seconds to go. Faceoff in netural zone.

Bruins play last minute without Rask in net, attacking wtih Recchi, Chara, Wheeler and Savard up front and Bergeron and Morris at points.


Less than a minute left, Sabres still with 2-1 lead.

Bruins take timeout with 1:02 to go.


Second period

Chara with sizzling one-time slapper at 12:36, snuffed out by Miller. No question, Miller the starting USA tender at Olympus next month.

Penalty -- Buffalo, Roy (tripping), 11:04


Sabres still with 2-1 lead with 6:12 gone in period.


Huge disparity in giveaways through the first two periods. Boston gave up the puck only four times in the first 40 minutes. The charitiable Sabres coughed it up 24 times, Tyler Myers yielding four pucks.

The Bruins landed 19 of the 34 shot attempts they made in the first two periods. The Sabres were 18-for-28.

Second Period

Period ends with Sabres holding 2-1 lead. Bruins still leading in shots, 19-18.

Penalty -- Boston, Krejci (high-sticking) 12:18.

Around 11:55, Roy misses attempt at open left post off pretty trade of passes with Stafford.

Sabres 2, Bruins 1 -- Lucic, 3 (Savard, Chara), 10:03. Savard dishes over puck from right of slot and Lucic nails in 30-foot wrister from top edge of left circle. First marker for Lucic since Nov. 23.

Around the 7:00 mark, Sobotka dishes nice pass to open right post, but Bitz fails to get good carbon on it. Sabres still with two-goal lead.

First Period

Period ends with Buffalo in charge of 2-0 lead. Bruins with 13-10 shot edge.

Buffalo 2, Boston 0 -- Vanek, 16 (Butler, Connolly), PPG, 17:32. Slips behind Chara at top of crease and swats in loose puck after Butler rips off slapper from above left circle.

Penalty -- Boston, Savard (high sticking), 16:29.

Buffalo's power-play unit: Stafford-Roy-Gaustad with Montador and Rivet at points;

Penalty -- Boston, Sobotka (interference) 13:26.


Midway through two period, the two sides with eight shots apiece on net.

Penalty -- Boston, Thornton (roughing), 5:47.

Buffalo 1, Boston 0 -- Tallinder, (Myers, Gaustad), 4:01. Sails in wrister from above left circle, beats Rask to far (glove side).
