Fractured orbital bone knocks out Boychuk
Johnny Boychuk will be out until after the Olympic break because of a fractured orbital bone. Boychuk suffered the injury yesterday when he was struck by a Mikael Samuelsson shot. It is a non-displaced fracture, meaning Boychuk will not require surgery.
Claude Julien said Boychuk's eye is fine, but acknowledged that it was a close call for the rookie defenseman.
"Very lucky," Julien said. "Our doctors were talking about a quarter of an inch the other way would have made it much, much worse. With that shot, you've got to consider yourself lucky."
