The Bruins will be facing the difficult challenge of grounding high-flying Alex Ovechkin.


Good morning from TD Garden, where the Bruins will host the first-place Capitals tonight. The Bruins will be without Mark Stuart, out for a month because of a broken right pinkie. Adam McQuaid will serve as the No. 6 defenseman.

  • The Caps are going for their 11th straight win. The Bruins are 0-5-2 in their last seven games. The last time they went winless in eight straight games was between Dec. 22, 1955, and Jan. 12, 1956.
  • Alex Ovechkin, Alexander Semin, and Nicklas Backstrom have combined for 83 goals. Marco Sturm, Patrice Bergeron, and Blake Wheeler, the Bruins' top three goal scorers, have 40 strikes between them.
  • The Capitals will be without Mike Green, who is serving a three-game suspension for elbowing Florida's Michal Frolik.
  • Kevin Pollock and Francois St. Laurent will be the referees. Brian Murphy and Thor Nelson will be the linesmen.
