The Sabres have started their afternoon practice at Ristuccia Arena. Matt Ellis is not on the ice, nor is Thomas Vanek. Ellis appeared to hurt his shoulder in the second period when he was dropped by Johnny Boychuk.

Ellis returned later in the game.
