WASHINGTON -- Good morning from the Verizon Center, where the Bruins will conclude the regular season this afternoon against the Capitals.

Because of Montreal's loss to Toronto last night, the Bruins are locked into sixth place. They will play either New Jersey (currently in second place) or Buffalo (third) in the first round. The Devils host the Sabres this afternoon. If Buffalo wins in regulation, the Sabres would jump into second, and the Bruins would play New Jersey.

* Zach Hamill could make his NHL debut today. Hamill was recalled from Providence yesterday along with Jeff Penner. Because the Bruins cannot improve their position today, expect some regulars to get some rest, and perhaps Tim Thomas to start in goal.

* Alex Ovechkin (50-59--109) is three points behind Henrik Sedin for the NHL scoring lead. Ovechkin is expected to play today.

* Marc Joannette and Chris Lee will be the referees. They both worked yesterday's 4-2 win at TD Garden. Greg Devorski and Jean Morin will be the linesmen.
