Alexandrov signs entry-level contract
The Bruins have announced the signing of defenseman Yuri Alexandrov to a two-year, entry-level contract. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Alexandrov, selected in the second round of the 2006 draft, will most likely start 2010-11 in Providence as he transitions to North American hockey.
This past season, Alexandrov scored six goals and 15 assists in 56 games for the KHL's Cherepovets Severstal. The 21-year-old is a mobile, puck-moving defenseman who relies on positioning to counter opponents in the defensive zone. Alexandrov, who was one of the more polished players in last year's development camp, will need to become stronger to play in the NHL.
