From the interview room:
Mark Savard sat down, shook his head and said, ''whew!'' after scoring the winning goal in overtime, seemingly realizing what he had just accomplished, scoring the winning goal after missing nearly two months with a concussion.
"It's been a whirlwind for me. I went through a lot of tough days.''
Later in the interview he said, "You couldn't script it any better."
On the winning goal:
"Wids made a nice pinch and kept it alive, I was just thinking as soon as this thing lands, I'm shooting it.''
"I thought why not get a shot here and it (the puck) just landed perfectly. I just clipped it perfect."
On the physical play of the Flyers:
"Early on I wanted to get a couple of bumps in but I missed a few guys and hit the boards pretty good. Chris Pronger took me out a couple of times and tested my head out for me, that was nice of him.''
On the ovation when he took the ice:
"To be honest, when I got out there, there was a little water in my eyes. It was such a nice ovation. I've loved playing here and that's why I wanted to stay here. The crowd has treated me great. My teammates were great with me all day.''
On his physical condition:
"I did a couple of circles and came off the first few times but as the game went on, I felt better. I felt great in the OT and Claude kept rolling me out there every third shift.''
On throwing his stick in the stands after scoring the goal:
"I thought that was a treat for somebody but that person who had it threw it back on the ice. They probably thought it was a mistake but it was a gift for someone.''
