Bruins forward Marco Sturm, who was injured in Game 1 of the ill-fated Eastern Conference semifinals loss to the Philadelphia Flyers, underwent successful surgery on his damaged right knee today at Mass General Hospital, the team announced.

Sturm's knee required and ACL reconstruction, MCL repair, and partial lateral meniscectomy. His estimated recovery time is six months.

The 31-year-old scored 22 goals and 15 assists this season, marking the seventh time in his career he surpassed the 20-goal plateau. He played in seven playoff games this season.
