Cam Neely was officially named president of the Bruins this afternoon at TD Garden. Neely is the eighth person to hold the title in team history. The position had been vacant since Aug. 9, 2006, when Harry Sinden last held the title.

"A lot of great things have happened to me in the month of June," said Neely, formerly the team's vice president since September of 2007. "One of them was getting traded here. And now, being named president. I'm excited about the direction this team is going in."

As president, Neely will oversee both hockey and business operations. Peter Chiarelli will report to Neely, but will still have the final call in all hockey ops decisions as general manager.
