WILMINGTON -- Unfortunately for the 27 players present at camp, the worst weather of the summer descended on the morning where they had their fitness testing. Part of the testing included a 300-yard shuttle run outside Ristuccia Arena.

But spirits, as they always are at the start of camp, were high as the players and staff look forward to an important week.

"They're going to learn about the Boston Bruins. They're going to learn about themselves. We're going to learn about them. They're going to learn about each other," said assistant GM Don Sweeney.

The players will go through team-building exercises this afternoon.

* Joe Colborne checked in at 216 pounds, one pound over his target weight. Colborne said he's happy with how he tested and is looking forward to serving as one of the older players at camp this week. Colborne said his end-of-year stint in Providence gave him comfort and confidence as he goes into this summer, his first as a pro after forgoing the final two years at the University of Denver.

* In Providence, Colborne played several games at center with Max Sauve on his wing. However, Colborne played most of 2009-10 on the right side. Colborne said that if the Bruins wanted him to play in goal, he'd gladly do so. If Colborne lines up on the right side, he'll have some competition in fellow first-round pick Jordan Caron. Caron, the club's first-round selection in 2009, was a scoring wing for Rouyn-Noranda, his QMJHL team. But Caron also skated in a shutdown role during the World Junior Tournament, which should give him some flexibility in main camp.

* David Krejci made a brief appearance prior to his workout. Krejci didn't have time to chat, but he was not wearing the soft cast on his wrist.
