Marco Sturm, who will start the season on long-term injured reserve, said his right knee is progressing well. The knee is sound, said Sturm, and his focus is on rebuilding strength in his right leg.

"It's all about getting my strength back and getting the muscle back that I pretty much lost," Sturm said. "It looks good. It feels good. I'm on time."

For fitness, Sturm has been riding the bike at 100 percent. With caution, Sturm can do squats, lift weights, and proceed with band work to strengthen the area around his knee. Sturm is not allowed to run yet. He is aiming to return to skating within the next 3-4 weeks.

Sturm and the Bruins have always targeted a return in mid-November. But with a firm return date challenging to peg, Sturm said he'd be pleased with a return in the 2010 calendar year.
