The Bruins have signed veteran forward Wyatt Smith to a one-year contract. The Bruins were hunting for up-front depth after center Trent Whitfield suffered an injured Achilles tendon.

Smith has appeared in 211 career NHL games for Phoenix, Nashville, the Islanders, Minnesota, and Colorado. The 5-foot-11, 205-pound Smith spent last season in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pittsburgh's AHL affiliate. Smith scored 13 goals and 35 assists in 76 games.
