WILMINGTON -- Good morning from Ristuccia Arena, where the Bruins are kicking off their first practice without Johnny Boychuk, who will be out for the next month because of a broken left forearm.

Boychuk is wearing a splint on the arm this morning. He is scheduled to be fitted for a cast later today.

As of now, the Bruins have not recalled any reinforcements from Providence. They are practicing with six defensemen. If this sticks for Thursday, Adam McQuaid will make his season debut against Toronto. Claude Julien said for now, they will carry six defensemen against the Maple Leafs. The next road game is Saturday in Ottawa. Julien said it's possible they could call up an extra defenseman for road games.

* David Krejci is not present for practice. Daniel Paille is on the No. 1 line with Milan Lucic and Nathan Horton.

UPDATE: Krejci is having his wisdom teeth pulled.
