THIRD PERIOD

All done on Causway. Sens in cakewalk, 2-0. Building two-thirds empty at game's end. Lots of booing. Senators with 33-31 shot advantage.

Recchi now with 1,003 career PIMs, 30th NHL player with 1,000 points and 1,000 PIMs. His last fight: March 5, 2004 with Flyers.

Good to know someone listening to the Ol' Bloggah. Finally, with 12:14 gone, the ancient Recchi takes on Campoli for center ice tussle. Five each for fighting. No one else in Spoked-B cared to try to get 'er going.

Hometown sellout 17,565 restless and booing. Don't like listless effort from Black and Gold. Smart Sens playing possession game. Little chance of locals chipping away at deficit.

Bruins need two to tie, three to win. Time to shorten bench and get most ''touch'' on ice.

4:15 -- Alfredsson bangs home seventh of year for 2-0 lead. Quick shovel across from left side leaves Afredsson wide open just to right of slot for one-timer.

Underway. Bruins looking to avoid first whitewash of season.

SECOND PERIOD

Period ends with Senators still with 1-0 lead. Bruins trail, 24-21, in shots. Smattering of boos from how crowd. Very dull game. Bruins sluggish with puck, especially challenged in own end to advance it over defensive blue line. A team in need of an emotional rescue.

17:00 -- Thomas makes key save, blocker on Foligno's short-range wrister.

12:23 -- With building abuzz over Kovalev-Regin collision, Caron skates in alone on breakway, but is stoned on doorstep forehander by an alert Elliott. Senators still with 1-0 lead.

12:18 -- Amid Senators power play, Regin and Kovalev reenact Big Bang Theory, colliding heavily into each other at center ice.

9:33 -- Shannon hits base of left post with doorstep backhander. Score remains 1-0. Brief scrum as Winchester enters crease after Thomas freezes Shannon shot.

8:01 -- Bruins put puck in net, but goal is denied. After initial shot by Bergeron drops on goal line, a sliding Wheeler punches puck over line with right glove. Accurate shot, but also illegal.

6:10 -- Spezza off for holding. Chance for Bruins to get game going with PP.

Puck down. Bruins need to get their forecheck stoked.

FIRST PERIOD

First 20:00 in the books. Senators, 1-0. Bruins rarely able to get puck into the offensive zone over the final 10 minutes of the period. Senators finish with 15-10 shot advantage.

Senators actually fire 24 shots at net in period, 15 make it to Thomas, while nine others are blocked or go off net. Bruins land 10 of 13. Bruins surrendering far too many chances in over last five games. Play too much in their own end.

9:34 -- Karlsson pots 1-0 lead for Senators with wrister from above left wing circle. Shot set up by Kelly, who strips puck cleanly from Seguin on draw in left wing circle. Freshman thrashing. Bruins yield night's first goal for a fifth straight game, after going 1-2-1 in previous four.

6:27 -- Caron off for interference, but Bruins snuff out advantage with ease.

4:00 -- Chara squares old debt with Neil, who fought Seidenberg in last game. Big Z falls amid tussle, but with his long reach is able to hold off Neil with one arm while down on ice. Each get 5 minutes for fighting. Wasn't much more than roughing. A statement fight by the captain.

Bruins go on power play at 0:14 (Phillips, slashing), but show little pop over the two minutes. Thomas makes good save on Ruutu's shorthanded stuff bid.

Puck down, 7:16 p.m.

About 10 minutes to go before puck down here at the Vault.

Not a single fight yet, although not all precincts and parking lots have reported.
