NEW YORK -- Mark Recchi gave the Bruins a 3-1 lead in tonight's third period when his long-distance wrister beat Henrik Lundqvist. The Rangers rallied with Marian Gaborik beating Tim Thomas at 5:26 of the third, then proceeded to pepper the netminder with puck after puck after puck.

But Thomas stood tall and kicked out every other third-period shot to backstop the Bruins to a 3-2 win.

The Rangers busted a 0-0 tie in the second period with a power-play goal. Nathan Horton went to the box for four minutes after catching Brandon Dubinsky with a high stick. Dubinsky responded by netting the game's first goal after the Bruins killed off 3:59 of Horton's penalty. The play started with Henrik Lundqvist making a sharp first pass to Ryan Callahan, who then chipped it ahead to Dubinsky. With speed, Dubinsky sprinted into the offensive zone and winged a wrister through Thomas at 7:10 of the second. Thomas reacted by throwing his arms up in disgust after allowing the goal.

But the Bruins responded with two second-period strikes. Patrice Bergeron started things off with a heavy forecheck on Dan Girardi, forcing the defenseman to cough up the puck. Nathan Horton, who had been offering support to Bergeron, found the puck and quickly spotted a wide-open Milan Lucic in the high slot. After taking Horton's feed, Lucic wasted little time snapping the puck five-hole through Lundqvist at 11:06.

The Bruins took a one-goal lead after a Matt Gilroy gaffe. The former Boston University defenseman, trying to hold the offensive blue line, instead rapped the puck off the boards to Tyler Seguin. The rookie blew past Gilroy, got a step on Michael Sauer, and snapped a top-shelf laser over Lundqvist at 16:35. It was Seguin's first goal since Oct. 30.

Johnny Boychuk participated in pregame warmups, but sat out his 10th straight game. Boychuk could return tomorrow against Florida.
