TAMPA -- In tonight's third period at St. Pete Times Forum, the Bruins took the play to the Lightning and put one puck behind Mike Smith. But for the first two periods, the Bruins did nothing of the sort.

Michael Ryder scored a third-period goal. But the Lightning scored three times in the second period, enough to claim a 3-1 win.

After a scoreless first period, the Lightning put three second-period pucks into the Boston net. The Lightning started their scoring barrage at 3:26. Ex-Bruin Nate Thompson triggered the sequence by winning a puck battle in the right corner, then spotting Randy Jones at the point. With most of the Bruins in tight, Jones put a shot around Nathan Horton and on net. Tuukka Rask was in position to stop Jones's shot. But Dana Tyrell, who had gained net-front position, tipped the puck over Rask for the game's first goal.

Tampa kept the heat coming, this time featuring the top offensive duo in the NHL. Martin St. Louis whipped a cross-crease pass to Steven Stamkos. The NHL's top scorer put a quick shot on goal before Rask could push from right to left. It was Stamkos's 20th goal.

The Lightning completed their flurry at 11:36. Dominic Moore's shot flew wide of the net. But the puck glanced off the end boards to Teddy Purcell. With Rask out of position, Purcell jammed the puck home to give the Lightning a 3-0 lead. The Lightning should have taken a 4-0 advantage into the dressing room after 40 minutes. But Rask made the save of the night by flashing his right pad to kick out a point-blank St. Louis shot.

10:38 3d period: Lightning 3-1
Rally? Michael Ryder taps in a Blake Wheeler shot that had redirected in front.

20:00 2d period: Lightning 3-0
Should be 4-0 if not for a brilliant save by Tuukka Rask on Martin St. Louis. Bruins clearly the JV team tonight. Getting their doors blown off.

13:00 2d period: Lightning 3-0
Zdeno Chara to the bench after taking a puck to the face.

11:36 2d period: Lightning 3-0
After collecting a rebound off the end boards, Teddy Purcell puts the puck behind Tuukka Rask. Bolts making it look easy tonight.

5:15 2d period: Lightning 2-0
Martin St. Louis with a quick cross-crease dish to Steven Stamkos. Even quicker shot by Stamkos to beat Tuukka Rask. Bruins losing most of the puck battles.

3:26 2d period: Lightning 1-0
Randy Jones puts a shot around Nathan Horton, and Dana Tyrell tips the puck over Tuukka Rask. Good work by Nate Thompson to dig the puck out of the corner and get it up to Jones.

20:00 1st period: 0-0
Mostly Tampa in the first. Not much puck possession for the Bruins. As a result, no sustained flurries on Mike Smith.

17:55 1st period: 0-0
Here comes the Tampa PP. Shawn Thornton goes off for interference.

14:07 1st period: 0-0
Bruins doing a lot of chasing in their own zone. Tampa the faster team on offense. A rare poor start for the Campbell line.

Long-distance chance for Blake Wheeler, with Jordan Caron sniffing for a rebound. Wheeler showing good hop tonight.

11:18 1st period: 0-0

0:00 1st period: 0-0
Daniel Paille and Adam McQuaid are the healthy scratches.
