Veteran NHL defenseman Aaron Ward, who often paired effectively with Zdeno Chara during his stay in the Hub, doesn't sound as if he's ready to pull on a uniform again any time soon.

Reached this afternoon by telephone at his home near Raleigh, the 38-year-old blueliner discounted a report in today's Boston Herald that said his return could be imminent.

"Right now, and I can't make this point emphatically enough...," mused Ward, the former Michigan standout, "it's just not a realistic option, nor is it one I am really considering."

Ward, who finished up last season in Anaheim after his March trade there from Carolina, has built a hefty broadcasting portfolio this season, working for Versus, TSN, and the Big Ten Network. He was on the airwaves yesterday, working the color position for the NHL Network's radio broadcast of the All-Star game.
