Bruins, 7-0 It's all over here: Bruins clean up, 7-0, and Tim Thomas makes 31 saves to earn his seventh shutout of the season,
14:40 No sooner had the Garden crew cleaned the hats off the ice than Troy Bodie and Adam McQuaid went at it in front of the Bruin bench, McQuaid jumping in to stick up for Mark Stuart, returning to action from a broken hand/finger. McQuaid held up his end of the slugfest and got 5 for fighting, 2 for instigating, and a 10-minute misconduct. *corrected.
14:04; Bruins 7-0 The hats are flying onto the Garden ice as Zdeno Chara scores his third goal of the game. and his first career hat trick in 892 games. He's the fourth defenseman in Bruins history to score a hat trick, joining Bobby Orr, Ray Bourque, and Glen Wesley.
The Bruins captain sliced a shot through the five-hole to beat Peters and get his 10th goal of the season. Chara threw his arms up in the air and then playfully pretended to doff his helmet and throw it out on the ice to celebrate.
13:21 Jokinen called for roughing. Bruins get fifth power play chance.
2:24, Bruins, 6-0 Just six seconds after the power play expires, the Bruins score. Ryder gets in front of the net to tip Seidenberg's wrister from the left point for his 14th goal of the season. Kampfer picks up the second assist and five Bruin defensemen now have points in the game (all but Boychuk).
0:18 Peters gets two minutes for roughing after punching his gloved hand into Bergeron's chest when the Bruins forward came to a stop at the edge of the crease. Bruins are 1 for 3 on the power play.
16:40 Michael Ryder called for holding, but the beleaguered Peters wipes out Carolina's power play at 17:54 when he tackles Wheeler as the Bruins forward breaks in on net. The call is holding.
16:04, Bruins 5-0 Yikes, had to retrieve this bit from the last Bruins' game blog: Two goals in 13 seconds!
First, Gregory Campbell tips one in while tumbling to the ice, courtesy of a shove from Tuomu Ruutu at 15:51. Again, the play was set up when Thomas stoned Jeff Skinner and the rebound was relayed from Blake Wheeler up to Thornton, who centered a pass off the right sideboards. Campbell crashed the net, literally, for his sixth goal of the season,
Then Bergeron collects his 15th of the season, unassisted, picking up a funny carom off the back boards and sending a wrist shot past Peters at 16:04. The 'Canes call a timeout. Bergeron now has 21 points in his last 16 games and 12 points in his last seven.
12:26 One shot for the 'Canes PP, no goals.
10:26 Nathan Horton sent to the box for a trip. Carolina's third power play.
7:00 Adam McQuaid, who already has his first career multi-point game with two assists, helps out Tim Thomas as well, sweeping a puck out of danger after it trickles behind Thomas's right pad.
18:14 Johnny Boychuk called for interference, giving the 'Canes a power play. They are 0 for 1. Best shot of power play is by Bruin Blake Wheeler, on a pass from Krejci, from the left boards. Peters makes the save and the first period is done.
15:58; Bruins 3-0 - Doesn't take long for the Bruins to cash in the 5-on-3, Chara getting his second goal of the game and ninth of the season after 17 seconds of the two-man advantage. Chara takes a pass from David Krejci and fires from the right circle, ripping his shot inside the left post.
15:04 'Canes Ryan Carter called for hooking, giving the B's their first power play of the game. Eric Staal then called for hook at 15:31 so the B's have a 5-on-3.
11:28, Bruins, 2-0 But no matter, Chara jumps out of the box when his penalty expires, and takes a feed from Adam McQuaid, rushing down the left wing on a 2-on-1 break with Mark Recchi on the right. Chara cranks the puck past Ward from the left circle for his eighth goal of the season. Thomas started the play with a kick save on Jussi Jokinen, and McQuaid picked up the rebound, passing ahead to Chara as the big defenseman turned up-ice in the neutral zone.
After the goal, the 'Canes replaced Ward in net with Justin Peters.
9:15 It looked as if Lucic might get a goal in his first game back after missing three, but Zdeno Chara picked up a delayed slashing penalty on the play and the ruling was no goal.
7:56, Bruins 1-0 - Welcome back, Mark Stuart. The veteran defenseman scores his first goal of the season with a slap shot from the left point - in his first game back after missing 18 with a hand/finger injury. Nathan Horton gets the first assist for feeding the puck out of the left corner to Stuart at the point.
Milan Lucic has stepped back onto David Krejci's line, along with Tyler Seguin, bumping Blake Wheeler to Gregory Campbell's line, along with Shawn Thornton, and leaving Daniel Paille as the odd man out.
