Bruins edge Panthers, 2-1
Third period
20:00 - It's a final here. The Bruins enter the All-Star break with a 2-1 victory over the Florida Panthers. Milan Lucic pots his 20th goal of the season, reaching that milestone for the first time in his career.
With 1.4 seconds left, former Bruin Dennis Wideman had a last-ditch scoring chance on a loose puck in the right circle but Tim Thomas held firm.
Boston 2, Florida 1 - The Panthers have climbed back into this one. Goalie Tim Thomas kicks out a fat rebound for defenseman Bryan Allen, who bombed a shot from the top of the left circle that beat Thomas high to the blocker side.
7:37 - The Bruins have killed off the penalty and are back to even strength.
5:37 - Dennis Seidenberg has been whistled off for holding. The Panthers are on the power play.
2:43 - The Panthers showing some life early in this period with a flurry in front of goalie Tim Thomas but Thomas not giving up anything.
Second period
16:16 - The Bruins have taken command of this one. They are dominating in terms of puck possession and the Panthers, who played last night in New York, look as if they are running out of gas.
8:50 - Nathan Horton, who has had a couple of opportunities tonight, had a solid bid from the left circle that Tomas Vokoun turned back.
3:13 - Shawn Matthias had a really terrific scoring chance, which was cut down by the pads of Boston goalie Tim Thomas but then Matthias slammed skates-first into the end boards and left the game injured.
1:52 - Boston 2, Florida 0 - David Krejci cleanly wins a faceoff in the left circle of the Panthers' zone and it goes back to Milan Lucic, whose shot beats Tomas Vokoun into the top right corner of the net. It is the 20th goal of the season for Lucic.
First period
16:25 - The Bruins have a good chance with Zdeno Chara coming late and ripping a shot from the top of the left circle. Save Tomas Vokoun.
15:39 - Great news for the Bruins. David Krejci is back on the ice.
13:31 - Boston 1, Florida 0 - Brad Marchand has given the Bruins a lead. Marchand skated the puck down the left circle, cruised around the Panthers' net, and jammed in a wraparound at the right post.
12:28 - Bruins center David Krejci has headed to the dressing room after being run into the boards by Rostislav Olesz. Trainer Don Del Negro attended to Krejci, who appeared to strike the boards with his left wrist.
12:07 - The Bruins started very well but then let the Panthers take over for a while. However, Boston seems to have recovered its rhythm thanks to the skating of Daniel Paille and the strength of Johnny Boychuk. Paille put on a skating clinic before setting up a Boychuk one-timer from the right circle that Tomas Vokoun stopped.
9:18 - The Panthers had a strong scoring chance when a high deflected puck hit Tim Thomas and stayed alive. Rostislav Olesz collected the puck behind the Bruins net and skated right to left and tried to pop in a shot from the left side of the crease but Thomas was able to keep it out.
3:16 - The Bruins are on their first power play of the game.
3:05 - The Bruins have come out against Florida with a great deal of energy and jump. So far, Tomas Vokoun looks to be on his game but Boston is off to the start it wants.
