Matt Bartkowski has been assigned to Providence. The 22-year-old was most recently recalled on March 4 after Steven Kampfer suffered a concussion. The move indicates that Andrew Ference is close to returning. Ference could be available on Tuesday against Columbus.

Bartkowski had his toughest NHL game to date last night against the Islanders. Bartkowski played only 4:42 after a rough first period that included a hooking penalty.
