Bruins prep for Leafs

TORONTO -- Greetings, early-risin' Bruins fans, from the ACC, where tonight the struggling Bruins (1-2-3 in their last six) take on the late-season-risin' Leafs, who have only four losses in regulation time in their last 16 games (8-4-4, .625).

Look for a well-rested, bright-eyed Tim Thomas to get the start in net for the Eight-Spoked-B's. The Tank backed up Tuukka Rask the last two games and three of the last five. Thomas is 0-1-2 in his last three starts.

Among the many subplots: the Bruins own Toronto's top pick in the June draft (part of the Sept. 2009 deal that sent Phil Kessel here). As of this morning, that pick is No. 7 overall. Every Leafs loss translates to draft equity for the Bruins, who used Toronto's No. 2 placement in last June's draft to add Tyler Seguin (11-11--22 in 63 games).

It's a homecoming for ex-Leafs backliner Tomas Kaberle, whose addition to the Boston defense, and power play, has been vastly underwhelming (0-3--3) in his 12-game stay. Thus far, his velvety-smooth passing touch has not translated to production on the PP.

Leafs are not practicing here this morning. Bruins are due on the ice at 11:30 a.m. We'll be back for updates throughout the day here at boston.com Bruins Blog, your No. 1 source, day and night, moment-by-moment, of all things Black-and-Gold.
