Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas is one of three finalists for the 2010-11 Vezina Trophy, awarded annually “to the goaltender judged to be the best at his position.” The other finalists for the award are Roberto Luongo of the Vancouver Canucks and Pekka Rinne of the Nashville Predators.

"Very happy to hear that, obviously," Thomas said this afternoon at TD Garden. "After last year, I wasn't quite sure if I'd ever hear that again. Obviously very happy."

This season, Thomas broke the NHL record for single-season save percentage with a mark of .938. In 57 games in net for the Bruins this season, Thomas had a record of 35-11-9. The previous save percentage record of .937 was set by the Sabres Dominik Hasek in the 1998-99 season.

Thomas also set a career high with nine shutouts this season. This marks the Bruins goalie's second Vezina nomination. He previously won the award following the 2008-09 season.

The winner will be announced Wed., June 22, during the 2011 NHL Awards in Las Vegas.
