Jeremy Jacobs applauds 2010-11 Bruins

Good morning from TD Garden, where the Bruins are going through an optional practice. Most of the big guns are staying off the ice.

Owner Jeremy Jacobs held a press conference this morning in which he reflected on the season so far and the challenge ahead.

"I feel very lucky and very fortunate to be where I am -- as a fan, as a principal, and as a custodian of a great franchise," Jacobs said. "This is a wonderful, wonderful experience."

Jacobs credited GM Peter Chiarelli for assembling a "dream team." Jacobs hired Chiarelli, formerly Ottawa's assistant GM, in 2006. Chiarelli pulled the trigger on many of the major moves, including signing Zdeno Chara, acquiring Nathan Horton, and extending go-to guns such as David Krejci, Patrice Bergeron, Tim Thomas, and Milan Lucic.

Chiarelli made one of his boldest moves when he sacked Dave Lewis after one season and hired Claude Julien in 2007.

"You have to admire the way, when things don't go his way, you don't say, 'Woe is me,' which we saw throughout the playoffs from some people," Jacobs said. "He just says, 'We've got to get down. We've got to work hard.' I think that's just a wonderful attribute. I think that plays well with the players. They know they have to work hard to be successful."
