TAMPA -- Tim Thomas recorded his second career playoff shutout, and the Bruins took a 2-1 series lead with a 2-0 win in Tampa. Bruins got a first-period goal from David Krejci and a third-period tally from Andrew Ference.

Game 4 is Saturday at 1:30 p.m., here at the St. Pete Times Forum.

Three stars: Bergeron, Krejci, Thomas.

THIRD PERIOD

0:20 -- Roloson off for Tampa. Krejci misses empty net.

1:22 -- Gagne to Lecavalier, who shoots far post.

2:09 -- Bergeron, Marchand, Recchi, Chara, Seidenberg out for a defensive-zone faceoff.

2:09 -- Thomas smothers a Bergenheim chance from the circles. Game anything but up-tempo.

4:02 -- Attendance announced as 21,027, most of them currently quite pensive.

5:32 -- Much more fire from Tampa this period, as expected. Shots 14-5, Bolts.

7:47 -- Bruins kill.

9:49 -- Chara to the box for hooking.

3d period – 11:24 – Boston 2, Tampa Bay 0 --With Kelly screening in front, Ference takes a shot from the point and Roloson got it … just not enough of it. Shot gets underneath the pads and slo-o-owly trickles across the line for a goal that, in a game like this, could be more than enough. Credit given to Seguin after a long review. Took nearly two minutes.

13:13 -- Nice stretch pass from Boychuk leads Marchand into the zone. Chance kicked aside by Roloson.

15:16 -- Good defensive zone block by Kaberle, then his giveaway leads to a Tampa chance from the circle.

16:41 -- Turnaround by Bergenheim steered aside. Thomas in the zone. 19 saves so far.

17:18 -- Strong stand-up save by Thomas off M-A Bergeron point blast. Bergenheim parked in front.

18:06 -- Lucic not his usual self. Rubs Tampa player out on the boards rather than blasting him. Appears a step slow.

SECOND PERIOD

End 2d – Boston 1, Tampa Bay 0 -- Somewhat lackluster second frame, offensively, but both defenses strong. Boston holds Tampa to six shots, puts 12 pucks on Roloson. Tampa better on the draw that period. Bolts have now won 19 of 44 (43 percent). Patrice Bergeron winning 69 percent of his, team at 57 percent.

Strong defensive effort by both teams. Boston certainly pleased to hold Bolts to a handful of shots in the middle period.

41.1 -- Guy Boucher calls a timeout. Some psychology at work here.

1:09 -- Lightning kill it off. Kaberle on the ice the whole time. Three shot attempts, two on net. Roloson stung by Seidenberg wrister from the point.

2:41 -- Horton-Lucic-Krejci up front, Seidenberg and Kaberle on D. Fans booing Kaberle.  Either think he's Chara, or they're Bruins fans.

3:05 -- Brewer hauls down Bergeron in front. Called for hooking.

3:27 -- McQuaid tries a shot wide, looking to get a bounce off the end boards. Roloson covers. Things getting a little cozy here. Well played tactical game, but excitement has died down a bit.

4:45 -- Thomas with a short-range stuff.

6:29 -- Roloson with his best save of the match. Bergeron finds the puck out of the box, waits for Peverley to catch up. Sends dish across, Roloson slides post-to-post and kicks with the left pad. A-plus work. 'Roli' chant going at St. Pete.

7:42 -- Seidenberg and Chara with nice work to deny an onrushing Stamkos and clear the puck.

8:51 -- Bergeron interferes with Adam Hall, who had poked the puck past him looking to break out of the zone. Two minutes.

9:34 -- Bruins have Seidenberg-Kaberle-Krejci-Lucic-Horton on PP1. Chara-Bergeron-Recchi-Seguin-Ryder on PP2.

10:19 -- Tampa caught in a change, called for too many men. Steve Downie will serve.

11:16 -- David Krejci is taking his regular shifts after taking that hit from Marc-Andre Bergeron.

13:16 -- Up-and-down, with Kelly missing high from 28 feet at one end,  Stamkos from the top of the circle at the other end.

14:02 -- Marchand to the box after a scrum in front. High-sticking is the call. Got his blade up as he was pushed by Hedman.

14:57 -- Collison between Ryder and Ohlund at the blueline. Ohlund gets the worst.

16:35 -- Krejci line effective tonight. Heavy work on the forecheck from top trio leads to Horton chance, then Ference shot that's blocked by the D.

17:39 -- Boston with good layers. Seidenberg pinches, and Ryder fills in to stop Bolts from breaking the other way.

19:39 -- Chance for Bergeron, as turnover in Tampa zone leads to circle-to-circle dish from Recchi. Roloson squeezes the pads.

FIRST PERIOD

End 1st – Boston 1, Tampa Bay 0 -- Bruins get a goal from David Krejci just 1:09 into the game. Krejci pays by taking a blast from Marc-Andre Bergeron. Patrice Bergeron makes his series debut, skating 6:00 and winning five of seven draws. Bruins win 14-of-18 draws in the period. Shots 10-8, Lightning. Hits 10-5, Lightning.

0:32 -- Seguin or not, Bruins still slow to move the puck on the man-advantage. Lightning kill it off.

1:49 -- Seguin on the PP2. Wins draw after Recchi is booted.

2:31 -- Krejci catches a stretch pass from the goal line. Turns and catches Marc-Andre Bergeron, who raises the elbow on the follow-through. Krejci slow to get up. Bruins going to the power play.

4:32 -- Strong work by Bergeron in the corner. Outmuscles Hedman, gets puck out front. Bergeron also 4-of-5 on draws. Lost opening drop, won all since then.

5:56 --  Chara dumps Adam Hall in the corner. Play turns the other way. Seguin tries to cut through Marc-Andre Bergeron and Lundin, gets sandwiched.

8:13 -- Chara's reach strikes again. Levacalier and St. Louis break two-on-one, Chara calmly intercepts pass inside the blue line.

9:39 -- Fourth line, with new addition Peverley, breaks in three-on-two. Paille spins and tries to find Peverly in front. Roloson makes the save. Post-whistle dustup leads to roughing minors for Campbell and Gagne.

11:02 -- Bergeron showing no ill effects. Wins D-zone faceoff as if he never left.

12:07-- Bergernheim shifts away from Boychuk. Snapper from the circle misses short side.

15:29 -- Big save by Thomas and an even larger block by Seidenberg. Purcell and Lecavalier catch Chara unaware at the blueline and break in. Purcell's shot kicked away by Thomas. Follow-up chance hits Seidenberg.

16:04 -- Stamkos with a sneaky wrister. Tried to pick far post from the left circle. Dangerous.

18:14 -- Flurry at the other end, with Ryan Malone in the middle. Thomas forced to cover.

1st period – 18:51 – Boston 1, Tampa Bay 0 --Bruins get on the board. Boychuk keeps at the point and sends it to the corner. Lucic gets between Brett Clark and the ref in the corner, finds the puck and slings it to a lonely David Krejci in front. Krejci goes forehand-to-backhand and beats Roloson. Seventh goal of the playoffs for Krejci. Assists to Lucic and Boychuk.

19:34 -- As expected, lots of loud Bolts fans here, looking to assert dominance on home turf. Chant wars going back and forth.

20:00 -- Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand and Mark Recchi up front for Boston. Andrew Ference and Adam McQuaid on defense. Tampa counters with Vincent Lecavalier, Martin St. Louis and Nate Thompson, backed by Eric Brewer and Mattias Ohlund. Tim Thomas and Dwayne Roloson in net.

Welcome to the St. Pete Times Forum, where the Bruins and Lightning are set for an 8 p.m. puck drop in Game 3.

For Boston, Shawn Thornton is out. Patrice Bergeron makes his series debut. For Tampa, Randy Jones is out. Blair Jones is in.
