WILMINGTON -- The Bruins have completed the first on-ice session of development camp at Ristuccia Arena. They have four more days of on-ice work, starting at 10 a.m. tomorrow.

"We've got fresh faces in here," said assistant GM Don Sweeney. "We've got some older guys returning. You hope you blend that together right away. Maybe some of the older guys give them a heads-up. Some of these kids come in here wide-eyed. They don't have any idea."

The Bruins had their inaugural development camp in 2007. Campers that year included Milan Lucic, David Krejci, Brad Marchand, Adam McQuaid, and Tuukka Rask. Tommy Cross was also part of that group, although he didn't participate because of a knee injury. Cross will be a senior at Boston College this fall.

* Michael Hutchinson left practice early. Jared Knight drove hard to the net during one drill and flattened Hutchinson. Knight stayed on and finished the session. Hutchinson said he was OK afterward.

* Cross and Ryan Button are considered the group's main leaders. Button is sitting in the stall usually occupied by Zdeno Chara. Cross is sitting next to Button.

* Knight and Ryan Spooner showed their speed and skill during several points of the practice. They are the high-end scorers in this group. Alexander Khokhlachev also displayed some skills with the puck. Khokhlachev has some Max Sauve in his game -- a left-shot forward with plus speed and skill.

* Off-ice activities in the next five days include paintball, a cooking class, and social media training.
