spaulding.jpgAs part of his day with the Stanley Cup, Andrew Ference brought the trophy this morning to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. Ference has been visiting Spaulding since his arrival in Boston and didn’t consider anywhere else when planning his day.

“After seeing the work they do here with the patients and some of the adaptive sports programs, I’m blown away by the patients,” Ference said. “But also by the staff. When we think of people we want to share it with in the city, we’ve got our close friends, the kids’ friends, our family, and people like this.”

Ference shuttled the Cup to and from Spaulding aboard a bike trailer. Ference was accompanied by Boston police officers on bike detail.

“He chose to spend part of his day at Spaulding,” said Boston Mayor Thomas Menino. “That tells you the quality of the individual.”

After his visit, Ference rode back toward the North End, where he makes his in-season home. Ference will spend the rest of the day in his neighborhood with the Cup.
