OTTAWA -- Rookie Mika Zibanejad cranked a slap shot through Tuukka Rask in overtime to give the Senators a 2-1 win in the preseason opener.

Lane MacDermid had Boston's only goal. Brian Lee also scored for Ottawa.

Rask stopped 34 of 36 shots.

“I thought Tuukka played well tonight,” Claude Julien said. “Overall, he was a big factor in keeping this game close. They were the better team tonight. They played the more direct game. We didn’t seem to muster up much.”

11:14 3d period: 1-1
Still tied. Matt Bartkowski best defenseman tonight. Finishing hits, supporting attack, skating well.

20:00 2d period: 1-1
Tuukka Rask (21 saves) star of the night. Best line has been MacDermid-Kelly-Thornton, which is not really a good sign.

17:30 2d period: 1-1
Andrew Ference off for boarding Nick Foligno. Might not be a penalty under old rule. Refs very vigilant about boarding now.

13:07 2d period: 1-1
Dazzler of a glove save by Tuukka Rask on Mark Parrish.

10:27 2d period: 1-1
Craig Anderson gives way to old friend Alex Auld. Not much hair between the two.

8:18 2d period: 1-1
Brian Lee with a long-distance shot through traffic that beats Tuukka Rask. Dougie Hamilton can’t clear out net-front bodies.

7:01 2d period: Bruins 1-0
Craig Anderson kicks out Shawn Thornton slapper. But kicks rebound to Lane MacDermid, who scores on followup bid.

5:55 2d period: 0-0
Tuukka Rask stops Brian Lee on three-on-one rush. No leaks.

20:00 1st period: 0-0
Nothing doing in first. Ottawa with 12-5 shot advantage. No presence in offensive zone. Tuukka Rask looks fine. Matt Bartkowski playing well. If Bartkowski shows he's better at decision-making with the puck, he could be the No. 7 defenseman.

14:58 1st period: 0-0
Ottawa with a 9-1 shot advantage. No issues with Tuukka Rask. Smooth and solid.

11:38 1st period: 0-0
Benoit Pouliot off for holding. First PP for Ottawa.

8:12 1st period: 0-0
Not much going so far. Bruins unsuccessful on one power play. Dougie Hamilton looks comfortable.
