Brian Gionta and David Desharnais scored power-play goals and Carey Price made 26 saves as Montreal extended its winning streak to three with a 4-2 win over the Bruins.

Lars Eller and Tomas Plekanec also scored for the Canadiens, who won 2-1 in Boston on Thursday night. Montreal improved to 4-5-2 after winning only one of its first eight games.

Tyler Seguin scored with 54.4 seconds remaining to draw the Bruins within one. Milan Lucic also scored for the reigning Stanley Cup champions, who lost their third in a row. Tuukka Rask stopped 23 shots in his third start.

20:00 2d period: Canadiens 3-1
Claude Julien giving ref Dave Jackson the business as they go off. Bruins buying into P.K. Subban’s stuff.

18:51 2d period: Canadiens 3-1
Milan Lucic off for slashing P.K. Subban. Subban suckers Bruins into two penalties in second.

16:28 2d period: Canadiens 3-1
Milan Lucic hits a slap shot over Hal Gill. Far side on Carey Price. Good work by first line to create offensive-zone turnover.

12:23 2d period: Canadiens 3-0
David Desharnais sneaks into the slot and scores on the rebound. Nobody home on backcheck. Ugly.

8:06 2d period: Canadiens 2-0
Carey Price holds his ground on a Chris Kelly chance. Good seam pass by Zdeno Chara to open up Kelly. Too much one-and-done for Bruins. No sustained pressure.

7:45 2d period: Canadiens 2-0
Shawn Thornton vs. Travis Moen. Starts with Lars Eller in middle of scrum after whistle. Surprised Moen engaged. Thornton doing anything he can to spark teammates.

3:09 2d period: Canadiens 2-0
Adam McQuaid takes his semi-regular dangerous tumble. Shoved into net by Lars Eller.

20:00 1st period: Canadiens 2-0
Far too many good scoring chances for Montreal. Tuukka Rask under assault. Loose gaps giving Canadiens lots of room in high slot. At other end, no sustained pressure other than spare shifts by fourth line. David Krejci’s line invisible until late in first.

16:42 1st period: Canadiens 2-0
Lars Eller snaps a wrister past Tuukka Rask high glove.

15:26 1st period: Canadiens 1-0
On the power play, Tomas Plekanec lets a slapper go from the point. Might have gone off something. Tuukka Rask didn’t get a good look at the shot. Lots of traffic in front.

13:42 1st period: 0-0
Brad Marchand pings a wrister off the left post. Good speed over blue line.

1:55 1st period: 0-0
Rich Peverley’s backhand goes off the left post. Shades of Marco Sturm. Tons of chances but no finish for Peverley.

1:13 1st period: 0-0
First shift together for Zdeno Chara and Dennis Seidenberg. Power pair reunited.

0:00 1st period: 0-0
Benoit Pouliot out. Jordan Caron in. Steven Kampfer healthy scratch.
