SHOOTOUT

Benoit Pouliot, the 10th shooter, scores only goal in shootout. Bruins win, 4-3, for their 10th victory in a row.

OVERTIME

5:00 expired. On to shootout.

Thomas with nice stop off Gerbe with 57 secs left.

Horton stoned at right post with 1:24 left. Feed by Krejci.

THIRD PERIOD

Good clear by Bergeron with 9 secs to go. Game goes to OT

Ehrhoff slapper deflected, stops clock with 15.6 secs to go.

With 1:03 to go, Krejci off for hooking. Sabres PP.

Wtih 5:21 to go in regulation, Bruins with 34-27 shot lead. Buffalo's game has shrunk, Bruins expanded.

7:21 remaining in regulation. All fisticuffs distant memory. For now.

4:24 -- Roy bats puck in net off Stafford rebound. But no goal. Point of puck's contact with his stick was well above crossbar.

3:35 -- Bruins, 3-3
. Chara drills in long slapper during power play. No. 3 for Big Z. First time Bruins even since 11:56 P1.

Underway.

SECOND PERIOD

Two periods in books. Sabres clinging to 3-2 lead.

18:36 -- Ference-Stafford skirmish after Stafford jams into Thomas in rush to net.

16:00 -- Buffalo, 2-3 -- Marchand zips forehander to top shelf, collecting puck near right post with Enroth still down in butterfly position. Assists Bergeron, Seguin. Even strength.

Bruins fritter away another power-play chances (Ehrhoff interference, 12:14).

11:02 -- Sabres, 3-1 -- First career goal for TJ Brennan, quick one-timer from inner edge of right wing faceoff circle.

Wtih 7:12 goal, Chara prevents Vanek shot from crossing goal line with Thomas down 'n' out.

3:37 -- Sabres, 2-1 -- Seguin unloads one-time bomb from top of left-wing circle for power-play goal, cutting Buffalo lead in half. No. 12 for Seguin. Perfect cross-slot feed by Bergeron. Tropp in box for hooking Paille.

Underway here for the second set of 20:00

FIRST PERIOD

First 20:00 in books. Sabres with 2-0 lead and 16-12 shot edge. Bruins with little in way of offensive threat.

15:22 -- Sabres, 2-0 -- Vanek snaps in 12-15 wrister on power play with Boychuk backing up toward net. Another power-play strike. Will be interesting to see if Sabres go up by three goals and night turns ugly.

11:56 -- Sabres, 1-0 -- Ehroff connects with bomb from right point, fed pass by Stafford off of right halfway. Second assist Gragnani. Power-play goal, with Bruins picking up extra minor for skirmish at 11:33.

11:33 -- Lots of fireworks on rear boards behind Thomas, with a featured bout between Zdeno Chara and Robyn Regehr. The bigger Chara drops Regehr and stops punching when the former Flames defenseman falls to the ice. Had to be hard for Chara to resist temptation to fire more punches. Mayhem begins when Marchand takes a run at Gerbe on rear boards. McQuaid with some big punches into the crowd.

9:11 (favorite time in Montreal) -- Lucic sent off for roughing Pominville. Ticky-tack call.

6:21-- Both Lucic and Gaustad leave sin bins without incident.

1:21 -- Lucic takes ice, received by sound booing. Two seconds after faceoff to Thomas' left, Lucic and Gaustad square off, each removing helmets for title bout. Skirmish goes about 30 seconds, ends with Gaustad going down after a couple of stiff rights by Lucic. Not much of a tussle. Easy decision for Lucic. Neither combatant harmed.

Bruins open with line of Paille-Campbell-Thornton

Sabres take the ice to the old Stones tune, ''Street Fighting Man.''

Roughly 5 minutes to go here before the Bruins take on the Sabres at First Niagara Center, with the Bruins looking to extend their league-best winning streak to 10 games.

The Sabres, tied with the Bruins with 24 points in the Eastern Conference standings, could be looking for revenge after seeing their top goalie, Ryan Miller, get hit by Bruins winger Milan Lucic when the clubs last faced each other on Nov. 12 at the Garden.

''We didn't like how we responded,'' said Sabres coach Lindy Ruff, reflecting on the Nov. 12 game. ''That won't happen again.''

Miller reamins sidelined with a concussion that he suffered in the Nov. 12 game. Jhonas Enroth will man the Sabres net tonight, opposed by Tim Thomas.

As expected, Jordan Caron and Steve Kampfer not suited up for the Bruins.
