Bruins beat Canadiens, 3-2

It's a final here at TD Garden. The Bruins have beaten the Canadiens, 3-2, winning their fifth in a row and 19th of 22.


18:46 - 3d period - Boston 3, Canadiens 2 - Erik Cole has closed the Habs to within one.


14:14 - 3d period - Boston 3, Canadiens 1 - Brad Marchand has given the Bruins a two-goal cushion. Marchand beat Price on a backhand shot, giving him 12 goals on the season.

7:44 - 3d period - Boston 2, Canadiens 1 - The Bruins have killed off the penalty to Hamill.

5:44 - 3d period - Boston 2, Canadiens 1 - Zach Hamill has been called for cross-checking, giving Montreal a power play.

2:27 - 3d period - Boston 2, Canadiens 1 - The Habs call a timeout after an icing. Time to regroup.

20:00 - 2d period - Boston 2, Canadiens 1 - The Bruins head into the second intermission with 20 shots on goal to 18 for the Habs. Boston is 16-0-0 when leading after two periods and hope to add to that tonight.

16:23 - 2d period - Boston 2, Canadiens 1 - Louis Leblanc's high stick caught Bruins' center Patrice Bergeron in the face and Leblanc was assessed a double minor for high sticking. Bergeron went to the bench for some medical attention during the power play.

13:24 - 2d period - Boston 2, Canadiens 1 - Nothing doing on the power play for Boston. The Habs didn't give them anything and the Bruins didn't take it.

11:24 - 2d period - Boston 2, Canadiens 1 - Defenseman Josh Gorges whistled off for interference. Bruins on the power play for the first time in the game.

8:02 - 2d period - Boston 2, Canadiens 1 - Montreal center Petteri Nokelainen nearly tied the game when his shot from the left circle rattled off the goal post.

5:50 - 2d period - Boston 2, Canadiens 1 - The Bruins did an excellent job on the penalty kill, not allowing the Habs so much as a look at an offensive chance.

3:50 - 2d period - Boston 2, Canadiens 1 - Nathan Horton was assessed the first penalty of the contest and is in the box for hooking.

2:42 - 2d period - Bruins 2, Canadiens 1 - The Bruins have retaken the lead. Center David Krejci has potted his sixth of the year. Defenseman Andrew Ference centered a pass to Krejci. The puck bounced off the left skate of Krejci and into the net to the stick side of Carey Price.


20:00 - 1st period - Bruins 1, Canadiens 1 - Both teams finished the opening period with nine shots apiece. There has yet to be a penalty called.

13:26 - 1st period - Bruins 1, Canadiens 1 - Tomas Plekanec has tied the game. Mike Cammalleri made a deft centering pass through the legs of Bruins' captain Zdeno Chara to Plekanec, who beat goaltender Tim Thomas for his seventh score of the year.


12:13 1st period - Bruins 1, Canadiens 0 - The Bruins have taken the lead on a goal by Benoit Pouliot. Center Rich Peverley beat Habs' pivotman Petteri Nokelainen cleanly in the right faceoff circle, pushing the puck forward. He dished it to Benoit Pouliot, who fired it past goalie Carey Price for his sixth goal of the season.

9:50 1st period - Bruins 0, Canadiens 0 - The Canadiens had an offensive chance when David Desharnais took a shot from the left circle. Max Pacioretty charged in for the followup but Bruins' goalie Tim Thomas took away any opportunity for a rebound.


5:00 1st period - Bruins 0, Canadiens 0 - Gregory Campbell is on the ice, playing his first game after missing three because of a fractured foot.


01:30 1st period - Boston 0, Canadiens 0 - The Bruins are battling the Canadiens without left wing Milan Lucic because of a one-game suspension. Daniel Paille has been given the duty on the left side with center David Krejci and right wing Nathan Horton.
