THIRD PERIOD

Over here at CONSOL. Bruins, 3-1. Embarrassment-of-riches run goes to 14-0-1.

With 3:00 to go, Krejci just misses potting 4-1 lead.

5:00 to go here in the third. Bruns still in control of 3-1 lead, even with much of the momentum swung Pittsburgh's way. Shots: Pens, 35-26.

11:08 -- Campbell and ex-NU star Vitale tried a series of over-the-top right hands in good bout after melee follows crash into Thomas.

Not so fast. Pens get on board at 10:54, cut lead to 3-1. Dastardly Matt Cooke makes pot at left post off feed from Vitale.

10:00 to go. Bruins should button this down tight.

8:42 -- Rare visor-to-visor collision between Malkin adn Paille leaves Malkin bloody around nose--leaves for stitches.

If Pittsburgh remains scoreless, it will be Boston's fourth shutout since big streak began at start of November.

Bruins don't connect for knockout blow. Now 11:48 to go, still with 3-0 lead.

4:39 -- Kunitz tripping minor. Chance here for Bruins to end it.

1:07 -- Bruins, 3-0. Seguin makes pot with quick rip at left post, off pass from Bergeron. PPG. Staal in box for interference.

SECOND PERIOD

40:00 in book. Bruins with 2-0 lead. Pens have taken 23-19 shot lead. Lots of ticky-tack penalties, both sides.

Bruins kill the 2:00 5-on-3, allowing three shots. Sullivan fails to make easy pot in open left side at 16:58 after he collects rebound of Malkin shot from right dot.

16:06 -- Peverley, Pouliot each sent off for minors. Penguins with another 2:00 worth of 5-on-3 advantage.
\
\ 8:38 to go in period. Bruins in command with 2-0 lead. Penguins with 12 shots over 31:22.

7:18 -- Bruins, 2-0. Pouliot snaps wrister to top right corner, off rush, after Peverley transitions in with puck from neutral zone. Pouliot's best game in Spoked-B.

Bruins escape 1:10 worth of shorthanded time, allowing only two shots on net -- Crosby at 4:36, Malkin at 5:12.

Bruins now in heap of penalty trouble.

2:57 -- Bruins, 1-0. Campbell with mash at right post after Paille centers out from behind goal line. Heavy work by fourth line. Paille outworks Bortuzzo. Campbell with step ahead on Adams.

Underway.

FIRST PERIOD

End of 20: NO SCORE.

Bruins finish period with 11-6 shot lead.

2:00 to go in period. Still scoreless. Bruins with 11-6 shot lead. Play very tight.

Pens with top PP line of Neal-Crosby-Malkin. Impressive.

12:19 -- Campbell off for interference.

11:41. Crosby can't cash prime chance top of crese, in trade of passes. Ran out of room to handle biscuit.

10:46. Dupuis overswings on free puck, top of crease. No goal. Primo chance.

8:25. Despres off for slashing. Another ticky-tack call against 'Guins.

Poor PP for Bruins. Reminiscent of playoffs. Spend very little time in offensive zone. Dupuis with great chance out of penalty box at 7:74, long wrister forces Thomas kick save (and a beauty).

5:27 -- Dupuis sent off for holding. Boston PP.

2:18 McQuad shot above right circle goes in net. Ruled no goal. Kelly and Bortuzzo collided with Fleury, essentially blowing play dead.

Near ready to rock 'n' roll here in Steel City, Bruins vs. Penguins.

Bruins taking 12-minute ice baths all day in preparation of trip later tonight to Winnipeg. Don't fix color on your television. They've earned those ruddy cheeks.

@GlobeFluto making his way now to Winnipeg. Has asked for hotel room near ice-maker. Rookie.
