Final: Bruins 4, Habs 3 in shootout

SHOOTOUT

Tyler Seguin scores lone goal in extra sessions. Bruins win, 4-3.


OVERTIME

Bruins with 7-3 shot lead in OT. Can't dent Price. Tied, 3-3, into shootout.

Marchand rings post wtih 2:21 to go in regulation, sharp wrister.

Price holds up under heavy pressure. 3:58 to go.

PERIOD THREE

Regulation over, headed to OT

Habs with 10-2 shot lead in period with 2:00 remainig in regulation.

4:00 to go, still tied, 3-3.

11:13, Montreal, 3-3. Chara gives puck to Cole in right wing circle and ex-Cane finishes with backhand lift at right post. 5/5. Unassisted.

6:14 -- With Thomas out of net on scramble, Chara fronts net and uses chest to deflect Cole shot. Boston still with 3-2 lead.

Bruins, 3-2 -- Pacioretty snaps home 24th of season from mid-slot. Thomas gets piece of shot, but puck bleeds over goal line.

Important for Bruins to keep pressing the puck.


SECOND PERIOD<

Bruins carry 3-1 lead into break.

Second period ends with patented Marchand clip to Emelin's knee. Two-minute minor.

14:33 -- Boston, 3-1. Snipe at left post by Bergeron, after he walks off goal line and lifts puck by Price on short side. Power play, 5/4.

8:08 to go. Bruins with 2-1 lead. Both teams with man in penalty box.

5:17 -- Boston, 2-1. Pouliot turns Campoli inside-out and snaps home 15-foot wrister. Dazzling goal. Kelly springs with nice feed in neutral zone.

1:39 -- Montreal, 1-1. Darche rushes to top of crease and bangs home laser feed off right wall by Subban. Shorthanded. Lucic fails to rub out Subban along wall.

Chara on Boston bench to start period. Chin bloodied.

strong> FIRST PERIOD

Bruins with 1-0 lead at first intermission.

Period ends with Plekanec clear attempt, puck smacking Chara in face and dropping Bruins captain. Blood on ice. Chara gets up and leaves under own strength. Bloodthirsty crowd loves it.

17:59 -- Bruins go on 4:00 PP when Eller high stick clips Krejci.

17:09 -- Boston, 1-0. Ference snaps in wrister from right wing circle. Gill with screen. Even strength, 4/4.

Pacioretty bangs into Thomas, negates 1:34 of Montreal PP.

15:16 -- Seidenberg off again for minor penalty.

14:15 -- Call Ralph Nader. Big man's bout between McQuaid and White at the side of Boston's net. Both land heavy shots. Rumble in the Phone Booth.

11:40 -- Thomas stops Cole on a jailbreak, following McQuaid miscue at Montreal's defensive blue line.

Campoli with heavy slapper at 11:00 mark. Good stop by Thomas. No score.

9:11 (note the time) -- Habs with first power play.

Bruins could use reward for early work. Stands to reason they will lose energy later, after playing last night.

Strong skating by Bruins. Own 3-0 shot lead in opening 4:38.

Bruins rolling with familiar lines. Status quo.


Less than a half-hour to go here before puck drop, Bruins vs. Habs.

Based on the warmup, it looks as if Tim Thomas will get his second start in net in as many nights, with Tuukka Rask relegated to backup duty for the fifth time in Boston's last six games.
