Andrew Ference is day-to-day, said coach Claude Julien. Ference suffered a lower-body injury in last night’s win. Julien has not ruled Ference out of Saturday's game against the Islanders.

If Ference is unavailable, Mike Mottau would take his spot.

* Johnny Boychuk didn’t take much contact in practice. The Bruins focused on power-play work. While Boychuk said he’d prefer to take some hits before playing, he could be cleared for game action without participating in a full practice.

* Julien acknowledged it might take some time for Brian Rolston to get back into top shape. Rolston had missed time with a concussion. “I think he’ll only get better with time,” Julien said. “His ice time was limited. He probably doesn’t have his full wind for the long haul. We also know that when he’s in top shape, he can certainly skate. That’s one of his strengths. I anticipate him getting better.”

* Zdeno Chara was given a rest day.
