WILMINGTON --- Good morning from Ristuccia Arena, where the Bruins took the ice Wednesday to conduct a practice session in preparation for Thursday night's home game against the Buffalo Sabres at TD Garden.

The big news was the appearance of goalie Marty Turco, who skated out onto the ice after noon for the first time in a Bruins sweater after clearing waivers.

Turco was signed to a one-year contract on Monday to serve as a backup while Tuukka Rask recovers from a groin/abdominal injury.

A good sign: injured defensemen Andrew Ference (lower body) and left winger Daniel Paille (upper body) were the first to take the ice before the team, skating on their own for about 15-20 minutes.

Bruins coach Claude Julien reported before Tuesday night's 5-4 victory at Toronto that both players had begun skating on their own in Boston.
