Tuukka Rask diagnosed with groin injury, out 4-6 weeks
Tuukka Rask has been diagnosed with a lower abdomen/groin strain. Rask will be sidelined for 4-6 weeks. Because of that timeframe, it's likely that Rask will not be available for the remainder of the regular season.
With Tim Thomas expected to be the starting goalie in the playoffs, Rask might have played his last game of 2011-12. If Rask recovers in the expected period of time, he will be available to dress as Thomas's postseason backup.
Rask was injured in the second period of Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Islanders.
Michael Hutchinson is currently backing up Thomas on an emergency basis.
