The Bruins will face off against Washington in the first round of the playoffs. Game 1 is likely to be on Thursday at TD Garden.

The Boston-Washington pairing was a result of the Capitals beating the Rangers today, Florida recording at least one point in a 4-1 win over Carolina, and Ottawa losing in regulation to New Jersey.

The Bruins went 1-2-1 against Washington this season. On March 29, the Capitals scored a 3-2 shootout win at the Garden.

The Capitals recently welcomed ace playmaker Nicklas Backstrom back to the lineup. But they're down to No. 3 goalie Braden Holtby. Tomas Vokoun and Michal Neuvirth are out with lower-body injuries.

The schedule will be released at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
