Good morning from TD Garden, where the Bruins will start their Stanley Cup defense tonight against the Capitals.

The Bruins went 1-2-1 against Washington during the regular season. Their most recent setback was a 3-2 shootout loss on March 29.

Defenseman Adam McQuaid (eye/head) will not play. Defenseman Johnny Boychuk (knee) is likely to be in the lineup.

Storylines: The Bruins will deploy Zdeno Chara and Dennis Seidenberg against Alex Ovechkin’s line. They should also have reinforcements in Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron, and Tyler Seguin, their best matchup line … Anton Khudobin will most likely back up Tim Thomas tonight. Tuukka Rask is progressing in his recovery, but might not be ready until later in the series … Washington averaged only 9.4 penalty minutes per game (sixth-least in NHL) … Andrew Ference will appear in his 100th career NHL playoff game tonight… Stephen Walkom and Ian Walsh will be the referees. Jean Morin and Derek Nansen will be the linesmen.
