Johnny Boychuk feeling good heading into playoffs

Johnny Boychuk, sidelined for the final two games of the regular season because of a sprained left knee, made it through today’s entire practice without any issues. Boychuk wore a brace over his knee.

“There weren’t really any limitations,” Boychuk said. “I went on the ice a little bit yesterday and it was a little bit sore. I tried it out today with some tape and a nice knee brace. It felt better.”

Boychuk hit the ice before practice for work with strength and conditioning coach John Whitesides. During practice, Boychuk skated most of his shifts with Andrew Ference, his expected partner if he’s ready for Game 1.

The organization is considering Boychuk day-to-day.

* Tuukka Rask shared the nets with Tim Thomas and Anton Khudobin. “It felt good to be back on the ice with the guys and stopping shots,” Rask said. “It felt good.” Rask is not as close as Boychuk. Khudobin would back up Thomas if Rask isn’t ready to dress for Game 1.

* Adam McQuaid (eye/head) didn't practice. Claude Julien termed McQuaid as day-to-day.
