The Bruins have recalled Aaron Johnson from Providence. The ex-Columbus defenseman was in Providence on a conditioning loan. Johnson appeared in two games and recorded one assist.

David Warsofsky has been assigned to Providence. The Marshfield native was a healthy scratch for last night’s season opener.

“What you don’t like doing is keeping those young guys not playing,” Claude Julien said. “They’re so close by that if need be, it’s easier to call them up knowing they’ve played and they have a bigger impact than if they’d been sitting around a few weeks.”

Johnson should be the No. 7 defenseman tomorrow against Winnipeg.

* The Bruins worked on their five-on-three power play during today’s practice. Zdeno Chara and Dennis Seidenberg worked the points on the top unit, with David Krejci, Brad Marchand, and Milan Lucic/Nathan Horton down low. On the No. 2 unit, Dougie Hamilton and Rich Peverley worked the blue line. Tyler Seguin, Patrice Bergeron, and Chris Bourque were the forwards.

* No changes in the lineup. Lane MacDermid and Jay Pandolfo were the extra forwards, while Johnson was the spare defenseman.
