What was that thing tossed on the ice during Tuesday's Bruins-Devils shootout?

That's the question being bandied about Wednesday morning.

The quick recap: A fan at TD Garden threw something -- many are saying some sort of food -- toward Devils goalie Johan Hedberg as the Bruins' Tyler Seguin attempted a penalty shot and scored. A do-over was ordered by the game officials, and Seguin scored again.

Seguin said it may have been a hot dog or a water bottle. Others have speculated it was a sausage, pretzel, or hamburger. Take a look at the photos here (above by Getty Images, below by the Globe's Jim Davis), and vote for what you think it was.

A video posted to YouTube appears to show the fan launching the object and then zooms in on a fan the videomaker believes was the one who threw the thing.

Update, 5:56 p.m.: Globe colleague Fluto Shinzawa reports that as of Wednesday afternoon, TD Garden security has not yet been able to identify the fan who threw the thing.
