1:45, 3rd period, Bruins 4, Sabres 3: David Krejci scored his second goal of the season, a pretty one at that, as he came gliding in from the left wing. He stick-handled past a sliding Jordan Leopold and beat Ryan Miller with a wrister from the slot.

10:54, 2d period, Bruins 3, Sabres 1: John Scott may have landed an early haymaker on Shawn Thornton, but Brad Marchand, the Little Ball of Hate, responded in kind by landing yet another body blow on the Sabres and their shell-shocked goaltender, Ryan Miller. End of 1st period: Bruins 0, Sabres 0

The Bruins put 14 shots on goal against Buffalo's netminder Ryan Miller, but none seemed to find its mark. Sabres' gargantuan tough guy John Scott (tale of the tape: 6-8, 270 pounds) landed several shots in a savage pummeling of Shawn Thornton at 2:53, which staggered the Bruins' enforcer. Thornton wobbled to the penalty box and did not return to the game after serving the team's first fighting major of the season.

15:36, 1st, PENALTY: Sabres, J. Scott, elbowing: Bruins went 0-for-2 on the power play in the first period after failing to capitalize on a prime opportunity. The Sabres are now 2-for-2 on the penalty kill for the game and 22 for 27 for the season.

8:29, 1st period, PENALTY: Sabres, J. Leopold, slashing: Bruins went on the power play for the first time in the game when Leopold was sent off for slashing. The Bruins had several chances against Ryan Miller, including one by Milan Lucic, whose goalmouth whack was smothered by the Sabres' netminder.

2:53 1st period, 0-0: Shawn Thornton vs. John Scott. As one-sided as you’ll see in a Thornton fight. Scott got the grab right away, used his reach, and dropped Thornton with a flurry of rights.
