The Bruins have recalled right wing Jamie Tardif from Providence on an emergency basis. Tardif is scheduled to practice with the Bruins this morning at Ristuccia Arena.

The transaction indicates that Shawn Thornton will not be available to play against Toronto tomorrow. John Scott dropped Thornton in a first-period fight in the Bruins’ 7-4 loss to Buffalo last night. Thornton didn’t return after serving the penalty. Thornton appeared wobbly after the fight.

Tardif will most likely skate on the fourth line alongside Lane MacDermid and Gregory Campbell. Daniel Paille performed well on the third line with Chris Kelly and Rich Peverley. Claude Julien previously said that he does not consider Chris Bourque a fourth-line player. Bourque was a healthy scratch last night.
