The NHL has tagged New Jersey's Anton Volchenkov with a four-game suspension. Volchenkov delivered an illegal hit to the head of Brad Marchand in the second period of last night's 5-4 Bruins win.

A woozy Marchand needed help getting off the ice. Marchand did not return to the game. Marchand is being evaluated today for a possible concussion.

NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan noted in his video explanation that Volchenkov made reckless elbow contact. Volchenkov has a history, Shanahan said, although he is not considered a repeat offender.

Marchand is the team's leading scorer with 16 goals and 17 assists for 33 points. The Bruins are already without Patrice Bergeron because of a concussion. Bergeron, however, skated this morning alongside six skaters.
