Bruins to face Maple Leafs in playoffs

The Bruins will face the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round of the NHL playoffs.

The Bruins, following a 4-2 loss in their regular-season finale vs. the Ottawa Senators Sunday night at TD Garden, are the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference. Montreal won the Northeast Division and is the No. 2 seed.

The Senators ended up as the seventh seed and will face the Canadiens in the first round.

The Eastern Conference playoff matchups are:


  • No. 1 Pittsburgh vs. No. 8 New York Islanders

  • No 2. Montreal vs. No. 7 Ottawa

  • No. 3 Washington vs. No. 6 New York Rangers

  • No. 4 Boston vs. No. 5 Toronto

The Bruins faced Toronto four times in the regular season and won three of those matchups.

Game 1: Wednesday at Boston, 7 p.m.
Game 2: Saturday at Boston, 7 p.m.
Game 3: May 6 at Toronto, 7 p.m.
Game 4: May 8 at Toronto, 7 p.m.
Game 5: May 10 at Boston, 7 p.m.-x
Game 6: May 12 at Toronto, TBA-x
Game 7: May 13 at Boston, TBA-x
